#Friday Reads

What is #Friday Reads you say? Well it’s  something that started on twitter where people would tweet what they were reading for the weekend with the hash-tag fridayreads. Then BunnyCates brought it to YouTube (check her out here) and now I am going to bring here to this little blog.

So this is what I am reading this weekend

Sister Citizen by Melissa V. Harris-Perry.

I am about 1/3 of the way through this book.I have only been following Melissa for a few months. I don’t know what I was doing with my life either!! The group I am in on Goodreads (Clutch Reading Challenge) read this the first month but I didn’t get the book in time. So far it’s been a fascinating and fast paced read. Some of what she is saying isn’t new to me but the context she puts the information in is. This is an exciting read and I simultaneously want to finish it right away and take my time.

Kindred By Ocatavia E. Butler

This is another off the Clutch Reading Challenge list. I am not one to gravitate to Sci-Fi but the synopsis is so interesting and unique that I couldn’t resist.  I can’t say much as I am only a couple chapters in except that it’s intriguing.

I am still working my through Jane Eyre and Northanger Abbey. While I am not disliking them I am just not feeling motivated to read them for some reason. My goal is to finish them this month so fingers crossed it will happen.

This is a meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading visit and see what other awesome things are going on!

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…
• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

1. What are you currently reading?  The Warmth Of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson and man is it deep. It’s definitely an emotional read but I do really like it so far. I am  still trying to get through Jane Eyre By Charlotte Bronte and it’s just not drawing me in.

2. What did you recently finish reading?  I just finished No One You Know by Michelle Richmond and it was just OK. I can’t really review because I don’t have enough to say about it.  A few days ago I finished To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee and to be honest I am still processing it.

3.  What do you think you’ll read next? I think it will probably be  Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, assuming I can find it at the book store. I am really looking forward to this one so I hope I can find it.  I have a list of others I want to read but I can’t decide which one so I am going to just close my eyes and pick.

That’s all I have today.
