#Friday Reads

What is #Friday Reads you say? Well it’s  something that started on twitter where people would tweet what they were reading for the weekend with the hash-tag fridayreads. Then BunnyCates brought it to YouTube (check her out here) and now I am going to bring here to this little blog.

So this is what I am reading this weekend

Sister Citizen by Melissa V. Harris-Perry.

I am about 1/3 of the way through this book.I have only been following Melissa for a few months. I don’t know what I was doing with my life either!! The group I am in on Goodreads (Clutch Reading Challenge) read this the first month but I didn’t get the book in time. So far it’s been a fascinating and fast paced read. Some of what she is saying isn’t new to me but the context she puts the information in is. This is an exciting read and I simultaneously want to finish it right away and take my time.

Kindred By Ocatavia E. Butler

This is another off the Clutch Reading Challenge list. I am not one to gravitate to Sci-Fi but the synopsis is so interesting and unique that I couldn’t resist.  I can’t say much as I am only a couple chapters in except that it’s intriguing.

I am still working my through Jane Eyre and Northanger Abbey. While I am not disliking them I am just not feeling motivated to read them for some reason. My goal is to finish them this month so fingers crossed it will happen.

Until Next Time

So what is WWW Wednesday?

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?

• What did you recently finish reading?

• What do you think you’ll read next?

Or you can simply click the photo above and go directly to the source!!

Click book titles to be directed to goodreads.

1.What are you currently reading?

I am in the middle of  4 books right now. Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, The Word by Marita Golden, How to be Black by Baratunde R. Thurston which is hilarious and Everything and Nothing: The Dorothy Dandridge Tragedy by Dorothy Dandridge and Earl Conrad. I am almost done with 2 and about 1/4 of the way through the others.

2.What did you recently finish reading?

I just finished  A Deep Dark Secret by Kimberla Lawson Roby and The Color Purple by Alice Walker

3.What do you think you’ll read next?  Well I think the next thing on my list is some more Austen. It will be Jane in June so I will pick up something else from Austen I don’t know what yet. I also want to read some of the Austen spin offs that I have. Other than that whatever strikes my fancy of course!

Thanks Miz B for hosting this fun meme
